Who are we? Right now, we are two professional adults, a cat named Boombox, a cat named Bean, a dog named Birdie, and five chickens living in Indianapolis. We are working on dreaming, building, doing, making, and living – whatever that entails.

This blog is part-diary, part-commiseration tool as we explore urban chicken raising, gardening, canning, worm rearing, knitting, do-it-ourselfing, cooking, and various other skills that could (if you were so inclined) be lumped into a self-sufficiency or urban homesteading label.

  1. I nominated your blog for the Sunshine Award, congrats. You can choose to pass the award on or not, no pressure!

    • That is so cool! Thanks for the kind words and shout out. We will definitely help spread the love – and now I have a whole new list of blogs to check out.

Hey there! I found your blog searching wordpress for other chicken blogs… I found yours, and noticed we have a few other “categories” in common, too :-) Definitely going to follow! Have a nice day,
PS: LOVE the chickens-in-space image :-)

  3. Great blog and I love your sense of humour :-) My chickens are scared of heights so they’d never go into space!

  4. Your blog is great as I’m a fan of gardening, self-sufficiency and knitting – what’s not to like! Love the photo too….
